Challenge #38 ~ Baby, You’re a Firework!

Happy New Year!

Aaahh, feel that? It’s things settling down a bit here at XoXo. December was crazy: crazy good! Things will return to normal around here, now. Following this note, you’ll see our next challenge. This is the challenge you should scraplift, or gain inspiration somehow, create, blog and let us know how we inspired you.

But wait – there’s more!

Next weekend, we’re doing a blog hop, but not your average normal blog hop – it’s a buddy birthday blog hop with our friends out at If It’s Groovy. Starts Friday, so check back soon! Lots of fun, creativity and prizes on the way!

So let’s get back to business. Our next inspiration was fireworks. That’s it – that’s all the prompt we got! And boy, did they take this one to the skies!

Tess’s fireworks:

I went for the traditional New Years Eve photo of our local fireworks. To keep with the theme, I have added sequins and a few little glitter flowers for the sparkle.Happy New Year to you all and best wishes for 2013.

Tiffany’s fireworks:

I used lyrics from the Katy Perry “Fireworks” song (let your colors burst) as my title. I sprayed my background with glimmer mist and then blew the ink splats with a straw to make them drip out more like fireworks.

Alaina’s fireworks:

I kept this simple because not only was I challenged by flying glitter but also the theme, Fireworks. I didn’t want to use an image of fireworks. Instead I used a diecut I made and used a wet glue pen to apply the glitter to the page.

Christa’s fireworks:

I used my Balzer template and some texture medium to create a raised dimensional burst and then added bursts of Watercolours on top to reflect the firework concept. I also added sequins and foil letters for sparkle.

Khristen’s fireworks:

I decided to use some sequin stars inside a die cut frame, colorful like fireworks, and made firework-like bursts with some Distress Stickles to match the go-kart.

Kimmy’s fireworks:

My misted background is firework inspired. I used an eyedropper to drip the mist on the page and the blew on it with a straw to create the "fireworks" :) I also added some sequins for the sparkle of the fireworks! :)

Michelle’s fireworks:

I used Scrap FX chipboard and scraps left over from my December Daily album project (also on hold). I used silver and Holographic embossing powders from Paper Source for the firework chipboard and stitched through the sequins so I could curl the ends of the thread and give a hint of firework’s dynamism.

So that’s it, be inspired, scraplift and be sure to link yourself up.
GDT positions are still being offered!

p.s. xoxo
